Web Site: Made of Japan

If you’re a runner, or know a thing or two about shoes… you’ve probably heard of Asics. If not, don’t feel bad - it’s not a very well known brand. How to remedy that? By good design of course, starting with the coolest thing we’ve seen in a while: Made of Japan. It’s a dynamic photo mosaic that displays Asic’s shoes using tiny thumbnail images from external Japanese web sites. The photos then link to their source, whatever that might be. We can only imagine the coding that’s involved in something like this. It’s a very unique way to display your product and a very viral concept. Of course, we’ll still opt for Adidas when it comes time to shop, but it’s a cool idea nevertheless.
Very cool concept. Really like the the way they used dynamic images to do create the product images. I wonder if they have any filter for non PG content?
I think ‘Of course, we’ll still opt for Adidas when it comes time to shop’ is a slightly misguided comment. Asics (the brand behind Tigers (as seen in Kill Bill)) are, in my opinion, viewed as both credible and fashionable. I don’t think they should not be dismissed for a houseold giant like Adidas due to being somewhat obscure/unique which would be a major plus point for some!
That’s an impressive site - no question. It seems that dynamic images are all the rage these days.
