Great Artists Steal?

Pablo Picasso supposedly once said “Good artists borrow, great artists steal.” Somehow we doubt that’s gonna hold up in this situation, and it will be interesting to see how this one shapes up. Take a look at Yahoo and then take a look at the ‘new’ AOL home page. To say the two are somewhat similar would be an understatement. Now we’re all for being inspired by competition, but it seems that AOL has taken it to an entire new level. That’s really a disappointment given the budget and the resources Time Warner no doubt has at their disposal. We’re guessing you haven’t heard the last of this.
They’re suspiciously similar, but I just can’t fathom the motivation behind the AOL designer’s decision to so blatantly adapt (if not simply COPY) Yahoo’s design. Perplexing to say the least. I would love to hear the story behind this.
I have to think some lawyers are keeping especially busy on this one. It goes beyond similar in our books. Even the icons are almost identical.
Sorry, but I couldn’t see the “new” AOL design. Can it only be seen in US, or AOL just changed their minds?
Similarity gone, they fixed the cloning bug.
I wonder if it is just the US version. Hmmm.. because the sites are still similar on this end.
Here’s a link that works

Any interest for a creative way of volunteering? My vision is for this small but international volunteer company to become a real “Global Arts Project’ and I invite you to join us to help creatively change lives while creatively changing your own.
Picasso may have been thinking of ’stealing’ from God/god
